While speaking to Goal.com, the 23-year-old midfielder’s representative Harry Lulofs insists that his client is ready for the next step, with Newcastle his preferred destination, but admits that staying in Amsterdam would
not be a disaster as well.
Vurnon Anita’s agent, Harry Lulofs, has revealed that nine million Euros will be a fair price for the Ajax Amsterdam midfielder, who has long been linked with a move to join Newcastle United before the start of the 2012/13 season.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who has been plying his trade at Amsterdam Arena since the summer of 2005, has thus far played 103 Eredivisie matches while wearing De Joden colours.
The Dutch midfielder, who can also play at the left side of the defence, has a contract at Amsterdam Arena that runs until the summer of 2014, and his agent believes that nine million Euros is a fair valuation of his client.
“I think €9m is a decent fee. Vurnon is a midfielder, so I think a fee around the €9m seems fair”, Lulofs was quoted as saying to goal.com.
Newcastle United, who finished fifth on the English Premier League in the 2011/12 campaign, are in the market to bring reinforcements to their squad through which they can successfully mount a title assault.
And Anita’s agent has heaped praise while revealing that a move to Sport Direct Arena will be a perfect step in his client’s career.
“Newcastle is a nice club. They play for the top five places in the Premier League and they want to join the Champions League. Vurnon is ready for a new step. He lives for his sport and is a real warrior. He's also very good in
one-touch football”, Lulofs added.
However, the midfielder’s agent went on to insist that it will not be a huge blow for his client, if his impending move away from Amsterdam Arena fails to materialise before the ongoing summer transfer window slams shut.
“He's still 23 and with Ajax he plays Champions League football. It's not a disaster if he stays with Ajax”, Lulofs concluded.
Reports confirm that Anita along with his agent will be holding a meeting with the club’s sporting director, Marc Overmars, in the coming days, to discuss about his future.
