  1. Well there an 11 year old kid in Bejing University right now and he finds the math too easy

  2. To go down to 8th grade you would have to fail, and like people said above: that is NOT going to look good if you want to get into college/university. I would stay in grade 9 if I were you.

  3. i was 14 in 9th grade

  4. being 14 doesn't matter.

you can only go back to 8th grade if you get held back.

you shouldn't even worry about college right now, enjoy being a kid.

  5. Your birthday fits the "age slot" for 9th grade, even though you're 14 (most 8th graders are only 13, actually). You'll be 15 in a couple of months, then you'll be the same age as all of your friends.

I am 14, and I am in the 9th grade. I'm on the younger side of my grade, but that's fine with me.

  6. Yes you can if you are coming from another country.

Here colleges seem to mainly go by standardized test scores, such as the SAT or ACT tests.  There are practice versions of these tests and study guides, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to work with some of that for you, since English is your second language.

Doing well on these tests will let you know a couple things.  1) how likely it is that you will do well in an English speaking college 2) whether your academic knowledge + English ability compares well with other test takers.

You'll learn in America that many people don't work as hard on their studies, but keep in mind, once you get to college you will be expected to perform well and will be competing against a selected group of students as opposed to everyone.

Here people are weeded out at college level, not in K-12 education.

  7. If you are capable of doing the work, don't go down to 8th. Yes, it looks bad on your file--it looks like you FAILED and couldn't handle the academics.

I was always the youngest one in my class--I was 14 in gr. 9 as well, and most of my classmates were 15. It's just because of when I was born. There was no problem with this.

  8. you seem to bre in the right grade. I am 14 and in 9th grade. I've never skipped a grade or stayed back one. All hte kids in my grade are 14 or just turned 15.

  9. You could, but why would you want to? You're unique that way. I was the same and I loved it. Just think when they are turning 40, you'll still be 39 and have an extra year to feel young! Colleges may not really look in to it.
