  1. Add 2y to both sides.  That combines all the y terms to the left.

    Add 7 to both sides.  That gets the y term by itself.

    Divide both sides by -7.  You should get y = 6/7.


  2. - 9y - 7 = - 13 - 2y

    9y - 2y = 13 - 7

    7y = 6

    y = 6/7

    Answer: y = 6/7

    Proof:

    - 9(6/7) - 7 = - 13 - 2(6/7)

    - 54/7 - 49/7 = - 91/7 - 12/7

    - 103/7 = - 103/7
