Calculate the density of this sample. Include BOTH a correct numerical setup and calculated result.

I got this from the June 2007 Chem regents, #63. Please help!

  1. You've got some information which is not necessary and some is not given. All you need is the volume, but you also need the molecular weight (20.786).

    Density = wt./volume =20.786/24.4 = 0.852 g/L


  2. pressure = 101300 / 101325 =1.00 atm

    density = atomic mass x p / RT =

    20.1797 g/mol x 1.00 atm / 0.0821 x 298 K= 0.825 g/L
