  1. Yes

720p is the minimum resolution for "HD".

  2. It can be called 720p. But seeing as 720p and 1080p are just marketing terms, there are some things you should note.

Widescreen 720p movies have a vertical height of 720, however, since the resolution width is not enough, your 720 lines will most likely be down rezzed to make room for the horizontal lines.

So it depends on the content. And since that's usually a computer resolution, the screen probably isn't that large for you to even tell the difference.

  3. HD display is only defined for DTV.  The ATSC HD formats are 16:9 aspect ratio, 720px1280 pixel or 1080ix1920 pixel. both miniDV and HDV do not have square pixels so they have to be interpolated to fill a 16:9 display.  1024x768 is a computer display (SVGA) size. It probably looks good on a computer monitor, but would have to be interpolated to fit on a DTV set.

FYI a normal SD NTSC analog television studio camera has higher horizontal resolution than 1024 pixel (512 TV lines). For anything less than 1280 horizontal pixels to be called "HD" is a real stretch.

  4. well not really 1024 x 768 is not really truehD like 1080p or 1080i but its extremely close to 720p so truely its just ED (enhanced definition) which is above 480p but most people can't even tell the difference so it truly doesn't matter.
