A 16 year old boy bragged to me saying he had a handicap of 3?

And, I don't want to sound like a village idiot here and all. But I really didn't know wether to say awesome or whatever. I don't even know what that is. If somebody could please explain so I could hold a conversation and congratulate him, that would be nice and I'd appreciate that. :)

just tell him he sucks for having a handicap of 3 in golf.  you have then won the arguement

it is a golf thing. And a 3 is actually pretty good. check out the sites that some others gave you, it will help explain it to you better. And also help you hold a conversation about it with him

That means that in golf he usually scores three points away from par. Par is like the standard number of shots it takes to complete a specific hole or the entire course. A three handicap is really good because the professionals are usually below par so just above par is pretty good.
