3 teenagers have already won.

Call your city hall and ask what their qualifications are. But be careful there are many young 18 and 19 year olds in uniform who read these answer too.

  1. Not a problem, most of the time there will be a town council or a city council that the mayor will preside over, most of the things the mayor does otherwise are ceremonial. The person also has to be elected first, if no one else runs then they can't complain.

  2. here we go...

  3. S/he is an adult - if people vote for him/her, then so what?

  4. I don't see anything wrong with people under 21 running for and holding elected office.

Plenty of them are wielding more authority in Iraq than they will as mayor of your town.

  5. maybe there will be some new ideas

  6. If he was elected apparently the people have spoken, most of those being older people.

  7. The town right next to mine had a mayor that was 18 years old. i think its great if you have the right candidates, because it builds experience in government at a young age, and that man can grow up to be president or something.

  8. How elitist can you be???

If only highly qualified people were allowed to run for office their first time out...no one would run.

And finding out someone's qualifications is a good idea, no matter what their age, no?

And the city hall won't tell you the qualifications of ANYONE (other than "He has never run for mayor" or "So and so has been mayor for 10 years"). You will need to find that out from the candidate...unless they are the incumbent, then their record should speak form itself.

  9. I don't see a problem with it. In some cases they can't do any worse than the current mayor.

  10. There was one that won a few years ago, and from what I heard he did a great job!

Mayor rarely has a lot of power, the power is held by the city council...  It's not like having a 19 year old president, so if they can stand up in the debates intelligently, maybe give them a chance!!!! :)

  11. That's certainly not anything new. It has happened quite a few times in the past, often making the news. If this person or any person, can convince enough voters, then he or she has to have something going for them. More power to them and good luck.

  12. I think thats great! If more teenagers were interested in politics and their community I think we could get more insight and responsibility in the coming years from the younger crowd.

  13. Not Good

  14. if he can solve the problems I don't care if a three year old was in charge

and anyhow how you lot have got and old guy running your country and s******g it up

    you do the maths

  15. If its a town the size of mayberry no problem.

  16. Now a days no minimum educational qualification is required to rule the country/state/city/local body. Unless this is set any tom d**k and harry is qualified for the post.

  17. i drink to that...too bad the mayor can't join me.

  18. If he qualifies, what' the problem?

  19. 19-30 is when People think they are invinsible. They have too much self confidence and are to arrogent. It is a good age to make mistakes but not a good one to share with the community the mistakes you're gonna make.

  20. i think for some age is only a number i know some 15year olds that are more adults then some 40year olds its a matter of what the person can do for the people not how old he or she is

if there in there just for fame and glory get rid of them

  21. Sometimes these youngsters come into the picture with fresh ideas that work.  Being young isn't necessarily a bad thing.

They're old enough to wear a military uniform, to vote, and be held accountable as adults, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to hold office as adults.

  22. Cool
