A 7-member panel requested by IHF for sorting the affiliation of states: Hockey News
In response to the proposal of merger with Hockey India (HI), the Indian Hockey Federation (IHF) has asked the Sports Ministry to set up a seven-member panel for resolving the affiliation matter of state units.
This request was forwarded by Ashok Mathur, IHF’s Secretary, in a reply to the ministry on June 27, regarding the merger. He stated, "The basic problem that needs to be resolved is with regard to recognition and membership of State Units in National Sports
Federations (NSF)."
According to IHF, it is the first and foremost matter to be addressed regarding which state body will be called the actual State Association of the sport that will hold the membership of NSF, for both men and women. Therefore, the panel must resolve the
case within the time period of 6 to 9 months.
By the time, HI that is affiliated with the International Hockey Federation (FIH), must be given the responsibility of placing the national team in the international events and permit IHF for taking care of the domestically held competitions along with the
previously offered World Series Hockey League that is proposed to be held in collaboration with Nimbus Sports.
According to Mathur, as soon as the authentic state bodies are registered with the NSF within the six months time, these members will give votes for NSF’s office bearer, completing the procedure until the ninth month.

He suggested in his letter that asking for 33 to 34 state-members for the NSF as it is illogical because IHF already carries 40 state bodies as its members along with 12 to 13 associate bodies, which are unauthorised to vote. On the other hand, HI has 32 state
bodies affiliated with it.
Therefore, in order to clear out the whole situation, it is appropriate to begin with the formation of a seven-member panel that will consist of two members from IHF and HI each and two from sports ministry.
Moreover, the seventh member will be a retired judge of Supreme Court who will be appointed by the rest of the six panel members and will act as the Chairman of the committee.
