A 9 year old failing genius? pt2 - DOCUMENTATION?

I really appreciate all the answers and to delve more into the situation some of you mentioned things about the proof/documentation - well today was the day she went to meet with them to get the results and she left her with me instead of sending her to school, she says that they didn't give her anything because they had to put all of their (team of 7) findings together in a report and send it to the school board all they sent her away with was a need for a mac - does this sound right? I'm only going through all this because I would without a doubt buy her whatever she needs to further her academic progress but I want to make sure her mom isn't just trying to "buy" her back to normal as she has been doing since she was three, her mom verbally abuses her something AWFUL & she has picked up traits from her mother that have had her really struggling in school with other kids and teachers (lying & stealing) so again, i sincerely appricieate any and all responses helping me out right now

A nine year old does not need an Imac. I use an Imac at age 17 and can assure you the purposes that one would use an Imac for a 9 year old even a genius would have no need for. If one is a genius the brain is in itslef the ultimate computer. Books are required Internet should be made available for research purposes. Even I don't use the imac that much only for art projects...so as i can tell you from experience she may want an Imac but if the purpose really is for academics having a regular windows xp computer is more than enough.

I am 18 now and I have a macbook,  my sister is almost 9, I cannot think of one reason that she would need a mac (though they are the best computers in my mind) I do use my mac everyday, and I am thinking about upgrading to a macbook pro because I would use the functions that it would provide. but a 9 year-old does not need a mac. unless there is a lot more to this story.
