  1. Wolverines win.

Why?  Because wolverines are tenacious and rather nasty tempered.

Well I had to modify this posting.  Yahell would not allow the posting with the links.

Go to YouTube and type in bear vs wolverine.  There are several videos on the subject.  The wolverine wins ever one of them.  One with a grizzly bear.  Two others with black bears.  Only when presented with THREE polar bears does a wolverine not try to press it's luck.

Sorry I couldn't post the links, but Yahell would not allow it.

  2. Depends what kind of bear. But let's put it this way, if you are talking about a Grizzly Bear, it's 8ft tall. It's a MASSIVE animal. A wolverine is only 2-3ft long.

Pretty sure the Bear would win!

Edit: Are you all retarded? The Wolverine is TINY compared to the bear.... No matter HOW much damage he could to do something his own size, or a little bigger, there's NO way he could win in a fight against a BEAR. They have thick skin, thick fur, and massive paws. I don't care HOW fast, mean or vicious the wolverine is, ONE swipe of the bears HUGE paw with those claws, and that wolverine is going FLYING.

    What are you people thinking!?!?!

  3. Depends a lot on the bear.  In our parts, brown and black bears are considerably smaller than grizzlies, and less likely to be aggressive.  Of course, all bears are to be taken very seriously.

It was unusual, but I saw a group of about a dozen grizzlies by the side of the road, grazing on early-season dandelions. None attacked the silly people who came close (with their children, yet!) to take photos.

A close friend of my next-door neighbour had a close encounter of the worst kind with a grizzly a few weeks ago. I am amazed that he had the courage and presence of mind to jam his fist and arm down the bear's throat until he was able to reach his gun. The man was badly injured, but recouperating well.  The bear didn't do so well.

Bears tend not to be as aggressively territorial as wolverines. It's normal for there to be a few bears in our neighbourhood in the fall. (Like in my back yard, eating sour apples off the tree.)

Years ago, I saw a wolverine in a well-reinforced cage. They are very strong diggers, and have extremely powerful jaws (flattening strong pipe, for example.) They are very reclusive and solitary. I've never seen one in the wild, nor have I ever talked with anyone who has. An experienced Native hunter I know trapped a wolverine. That was only the second time in his life he'd caught one.  The trap was incredibly mangled.

The wolverine was trapped and badly hurt, but still very strong and aggressive.  (Wolverine pelts are valued for edging parka hoods, because ones breath doesn't freeze to it, as with other furs.)

In mythology and experience-based trappers' stories, the wolverine is smart, cunning, aggressive and devious.

It's extremely unlikely that such a fight would take place, but I'd put my money on the wolverine.

  4. ofcourse a bear

it has a really massive size and claws

  5. wolverine those things are vicious im sure even bears would run away they can take down elk that are bigger than them anddrag them uphill bears can't drag much more than their body weight

  6. The wolverine!  Sure, one would think the bear, because of its size.  The bear is a bit more clumsy on its feet in comparison to the wolverine.

But if you've ever seen a wolverine in action you'd feel differently.  It is, of course, much smaller than the bear.  But the wolverine is agile and MEAN!!!  Its claws are long and sharp.  It also has large and sharp teeth and a very powerful jaw.  Size has no bearing when it comes to its ferocity.

But as they're solitary animals, it's not likely that one alone would be able to kill a bear.  Leave a lasting impression?  Yes.  But not kill.
