to post to Northern Ireland. They're using Royal Mail (they deliver to N. Ireland same rates as mainland) and the item would only cost around £5 to post. My question is, how should I write my concerns if I email them?

  1. Perhaps (and I'm taking a guess here) they recover some of the costs of 'free delivery' to mainland by collecting a bit extra from their N.I. customers ?

I would suggest you take your business elsewhere = I'm assuming you are in N.I. = why not do business with an Irish Co. ?

  2. It  is not illegal for them to do that. They may be doing it because of previous problems with orders from NI. Ask them why, say you wont pay this charge, and furthermore unless they have a good reason for it you wont buy unless they give you a £25 discount for pointing out this anomaly to them. You never know you may get it and a thankyou. However more likely you will need to source your goods elsewhere.
