The Brazilian international admits to complacency at the start of the 2011/12 season, and reveals the hunger for league success in the squad presently.
A.C Milan defender, Thiago Silva, insists that the Italian Champions have found their aspiration for Scudetto ahead of the crunch tie against Juventus this weekend.
The former Porto star is lamenting his team’s performances in the first few matches of the 2011/12 season, and has admitted that they were rocked by complacency.
Commenting on the Diavolo’s slow start to the season the full-back said:
"It happened after the Supercoppa Italiana. The league started and we were no longer the same. We seemed to be thinking that we could easily win another Scudetto.”
The team has been going forward full steam since then, dismantling Juventus from the top of the points table. The Old Lady trail the Italian Champions by just a single point, though with a game in hand.
“Right now, last year's feeling is back, and we're hungry for more titles."
Silva believes that the turnaround in his side’s performances has a lot to do with the strong challenge provided by the Bianconeri.
Having admitted that his side had complacency issues, the Brazilian insists that it is all behind them now, and the Rossoneri are ready to fire all cylinders in pursuit of the title.
"We lacked the real hunger for success. We no longer had the same willingness to win that we possessed before. This hunger for success is what makes the difference for a team with our qualities."
The weekend’s clash between the two Italian giants could see the winner cementing their position at the top of the table. While A.C Milan’s recent form suggest the defending champions to be favourites, the Bianconeri have the history
on their side, having beaten the Rossoneri in the last three head to head meetings.
Massimiliano Allegri’s team come into this game on the back of a 4-0 drubbing of Arsenal and a win over Cesena recently.
The Diavolo will host the Turin giants on Saturday, February 24.
