A.C Milan defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 as the best team of the last two decades
A.C Milan full-back, Gianluca Zambrotta, believes that Barcelona are playing the best football of the last 20 years and it will be very tough for his team to win the UEFA Champions League.
Zambrotta, who joined the Italian Champions from Barcelona in 2008, is still upbeat of his team’s chances of winning the competition next season. The Catalans have ruled the roost in Europe of late and have won three of the last six competitions. Pep Guardiola’s side have won two of the last three competitions by beating English Champions, Manchester United, on both occasions.
A.C Milan won the 2010/11 Serie A and ended a seven year Scudetto drought. The Italian Champions are now targeting UEFA Champions League for the upcoming season.
Zambrotta believes that it will be very difficult for his side to get the better of the Catalan giants, as they are much superior to rest of the teams in Europe. However, the former Italian international is confident that the Rossoneri squad is more complete this time around and they will prove to be a threatening force in the competition.
Talking to the reporters Zambrotta said, "I must say that winning the Champions League will be more difficult because Barcelona are the strongest team and they play the greatest football of the last 20 years. We can play to win in the Champions League against any team and with some luck we may get to the quarter-final, after that we may go further.”
"We want to win in Europe, and continue winning in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926. The desire is there. We are always hungry to win, and this is normal when you play for a club like Milan."
Milan have won the Champions League seven times thus far, only second best to Spanish giants, Real Madrid. Their last European triumph came in the 2006/07 season, when they defeated http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 2-1 in the final. However, Milan have not had a memorable time in Europe for the past three or four seasons, as they have not gone beyond the first knockout round since then.
