A.C Milan striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Santos-c32532 striker, Neymar, to Brazilian legend, Pele.
Robinho believes that it is too early to compare Neymar to the legends like Pele. Neymar has been touted as one of the best emerging talents in the world and has already attracted interest from few of the top clubs in Europe including http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
The young striker is ready to become a tug of war between the two clubs and Santos have demanded 40-million-pounds plus fee for their prized asset. It is believed that the Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, rates the Brazilian highly and is ready to pounce on the superstar.
Robinho, also emerged from the same youth setup as Neymar, was also labelled as the new Pele when he broke into the Santos first team, has suggested the striker not to get carried away by the tag and he must concentrate on his own game. The former Manchester City striker himself could not live up to the hype and has constantly been on the move in the transfer window.
The Milan striker said that the media should not pressurise the players by comparing them to the greats very early in their careers.
Talking to the reporters Robinho said, "Pele is the King of Football. Every young, black player who appears at Santos is called Pele, but people need to know how to differentiate that, because Pele was a myth. There has not been anyone similar to Pele nor will there be one. Another Pele will not be born,"
"Each player needs to make their own history. Neymar is already making his very well. In his short time as a professional, he has already won important trophies for Santos.”
Neymar has been really influential in guiding his club to win the Copa Libertadores for the first time since 1963. His impressive performances for the club also handed him a call-up to the national team and since then he has become a regular starter for the country.
The 19-year-old made his international debut in a friendly against USA in August 2010 and scored inside the first half hour of the game. The striker has scored 66 goals in 134 appearances for his club, while he has scored 3 goals in 5 games for his national side.
The rookie star has also won several individual honours in his short career including the Golden Boot award in 2010 for most goals in all Brazilian competitions. Next few weeks will be very crucial in determining the player’s future, as Madrid are reportedly preparing a bid to land him.
