A/C compressor valves

What are the signs of a compressor having bad valves...obviously a higher than normal suction pressure and some hot gas bleed back to the suction line....anything else? bad temperature split?

  1. low amp draw.

    compressor that is quiet.

    poor TD.

    equalization instanley when shut off.

    low head pressure.

    high electric bills.

    unit will not pump down.

    look for that dirty evap coil that killed the compressor, over charged


  2. higher suction pressure lower high pressure amp draw you ll see the amps increasing as it runs

  3. Low compressor capacity.I have seen a compressor not be able to pull lower than 95 pounds with bad valves and still have a 18 degree split across the coil ,so split doesn't always apply.Pump her down and see if it holds.
