Question:

A/C problem on my 1998 Buick Regal?

I have replaced the a/c compressor, blower motor, blower fuse, added freon and now my car only blows semi cold air on high speed. It also doesn't blow very hard on the high setting. I am frustrated with this whole a/c system. Any answers on what could be wrong???? I hate to put it in the shop because it is so expensive! I prefer to do it myself if I knew what the problem was. Help please!

  1. Here do this: Hook up your ac machine to the ports and evacuate the system, I assume you own an ac machine. Once the refrigerant is recovered, remove the lines from the compressor and evaporator. Remove the orfice tube. Get a can of ac flush and your ac flush equipment and flush the system out real well. I assume you have a compressor because you will need lots of air for this. Then install a new orfice tube and new o rings on the lines you took off, intall lines. Put proper amount of oil in the compressor and drier. Hook your ac machine back up and vacuum it down for 20-30 minutes, make sure it holds a vacuum afterwards. Then recharge the system with the proper amount of refrigerant in ounces (not cans). Once you've done that, start the vehicle and check your gauges, you should be all set.

  2. have you tried cleaning out your evaporator

  3. Did you install a new exspansion valve? Did you pull a good vacuum on the system before charging it? Is it running a 35 psi on the low side? Anything above 35 psi will choke down the compressor, under 15 psi and the low pressure cutout won't kick in the compressor. There you go: AC repair 101

  4. A lot of possibilities like vacuum long enough, adequate amount of refrigerant.............
