Will that little 9.9hp move that boat? I know I won't fly, but don't want to putt around either. Anyone ever try this exact combo? Thank you...

  1. A 9.9HP motor will move the boat. I have run the J14' models with the same size engine. Keep in mind that the JV13 has a max HP rating of 30 so a 9.9 might be more sluggish than you would like.

  2. I have the same boat with a Yamaha 15hp 4 stroke & barge prop. I use it with heavy loads in the boat. Plus I can tow up to 30' boats with it. Now if you want some speed, get a speed prop & put on a Dol-fin on the lower unit. Just remember, the more c**p you throw into the boat, the slower the ride. These are good little boats. When I bought this boat it had a 48hp spl evinrude on it! I also have another new one I bought last year: 24' DLX with a 90hp E-Tec. You should be fine with the 9.9hp.
