  1. I've been to quite some catholic weddings. There wasn't anything in latin.

  2. The actual wedding ceremony is the exchange of vows. You won't mess this up because the priest will lead you through it phrase by phrase, and you both just repeat what he says. Also, you will be having a rehearsal shortly before the actual event, to go through everything you both have to do during the ceremony.

If you want to review the prayers of the Mass, every Catholic church has, either in the pews or in a rack at the back of the church, a "mass book" or missal, which contains all the prayers of the Mass, both the ones that are the same at every Mass, and the ones that change through the church year. I'm sure your priest will let you borrow one.

  3. I wouldn't want a catholic wedding at all!!  It's almost 2 1/2 hour as long just to say do you? yep.  Do you? yep.  Now kiss each other and get outta here.

  4. Text can be obtained from your parish priest.

About the Latin, not all priests do the Tridentine Mass.

  5. If you are getting married go talk to the priest who is preciding over your wedding. Each church is a little different and you have choices as to what he says.

  6. Why would you want your vows in latin??  HOw would you know what you are pledging to your husband?  Most priests will not do a wedding mass in lating, but if you really want it in latin then you need to talk to your priest or deacon that will be perfomring the ceremony.

As far as the wedding mass, it's not much different than a regular Sunday or Saturday mass.  If you are unfamiliar with how the Mass goes then I suggest you start going to church.  (This is going to be expected if you are marrying in a Catholic church.)

Also the church should give you a book with information regarding the ceremony and what readingas you can choose.  You will need to choose 2 readings, a Gospel reading, and the prayers of the faithful.  You will need to choose 1 person for each reading and the prayers of the faithful.  Usually the priest does the Gosdpel reading.

You will also need to get with the church musicians and choose a responsorial psalm and gospel acclamation.

  7. You can buy the book at the church's bookstore. It has all the masses for the year.

Mass in Latin is not as common... if you are adamant about having your vows be in Latin you'll have to discuss that with your priest. He might be able to accommodate you.

  8. just wanted to point out that Jedi Master is totally wrong by saying a catholic wedding is 2 1/2  hours long. I'm catholic and my wedding was about 45 minutes.. Every single catholic wedding I've ever been to has been 45 minutes to AT MOST one hour.

  9. At what point? Whole Mass or just vows?

  10. What the priest should say is "God help you, why do you want to do this".
