I was in between talks with my boss and co worker. My boss was talking about an anniversary dinner with his wife of 26 years. I brought up Melting Pot and he brought up chinese place in Chicago around downtown, he said. He forgot the name however described the place where the tables are so low and holes in the floor where you put ur legs in??? Does it ring any place??? Sorry if it may sound stupid. LOL

  1. That's not a Chinese place, it's Star of Siam at 11 East Illinois...just off of State.  You can see it on their homepage...they have normal table seating, but in the middle there is an elevated section which is what he's talking about.

I don't know if I would bring my wife or girlfriend there for an anniversary dinner unless you were on a budget.  The food is really good but it's also a carry out place, we get it delivered at work all the time.  I also go there with my wife and five year old when we're near Navy Pier.

If you were talking about the Melting Pot, check out Geja's instead.  Geja's has been around a lot longer and is in a better location in Lincoln Park: http://www.gejascafe.com/
