A DVD was stuck inside

Question

A DVD was stuck inside our DVD/VHS player. The whole thing locked up. My husband had to take it apart to get the DVD out, put it back together, and it's still locked up. We even held in the ON/STANDBY button for 10 seconds to reset it. "Hello" keeps dancing across the front of it, but it doesn't respond to anything on the remote.
