  1. They are only rare because they are not prone to survive in the wild.  A true albino is an aberration and is blind and sticks out like a sore thumb for predators.  Piedbald occur more often than albino but both are abnormal.

  2. Not really rare, rare.* I saw a Pinto one once.* Beautiful Deer.*

  3. for the animal to be born it is very rare, probably one in 10,000.  Then, the animal is at a big survival disadvantage.

However, those numbers can be a bit deceiving.  If no deer in your area are carrying the albino gene, you just won't have any albinos at all until some outside deer from aonther sub-population carrying the gene wander in.

In the same manner, places that have one albino deer usualy have a few of them floating around, because some dominant buck a few years back had the albino recessive gene and he passed it onto half of his offspring, which as dominant buck, were a LOT.  Then, as his neices and nephews and sons and daughters mate over the next few generations, it becomes likely that his great-grandchildren will end up with a double-copy of his single albino gene, making them albino

  4. Albino are very rare I believe it is one in every 30 to 40 thousand Deer.

  5. I never realized how rare albino deer are. There are a herd of them that live on Belle Isle (Michigan). If you want to see them all you need to do is head to the north end of the island and sit around for an hour or three.

  6. I would guess they would be pretty rare. I've never seen one face to face, but I have seen pictures.

  7. Hard to answer since the long term survival for an animal that is born all white (no camouflage) is very, very, low.  Especially a fawn who's natural instinct is to low still and not run.  Easily spotted and eaten by predators

  8. very rare i believe ive never seen one ive been deer hunting for 4 years now.
