A Density Question..in perspective to California?

Ok...I’m debunking a proposal, the proposal is giving the land mass in relation to the people in California...I basically need to find out all of the land masses from uninhabited areas in California then subtract that from habited areas of California. Then show the percentage difference…if you have any questions...please let me know. You will be a great help!

  1. You could do a county by county comparison.  Get the population of each county.  Get the area of the county.  Figure out the density in each county.  Assign the lowest ones the category low-density and the high ones high.  That way you can deveklop a proxy for urban/suburban counties versus rural counties.

    Census bureau for population.  Any good encyclopesia or database or state website should give you land area of each county.
