A.J. Pierzynski unveils desire to end his career with Chicago White Sox -MLB Update
Catcher, A.J. Pierzynski, has explained that he never wanted to leave the Chicago White Sox.
Trying to repel the impression that he departed from the White Sox willingly, he has clarified that he tried his best to sign a new agreement with the club.
Pierzynski has inked a one-year contract with the Texas Rangers at the moment, after realising that the White Sox are not interested in him.
While he regrets leaving a place where he stayed for such a long time, he is looking to help the Rangers in the upcoming season.
The Rangers can expect something extraordinary from him, given the fact that he stood out at the plate regularly during last season.
He was one of those batters for the White Sox who produced home runs consistently.
He hit .278 while striking 27 home runs and amassing 77 RBIs. These offensive numbers are exceptional, especially considering that he is a catcher.
Certainly, the Rangers can pin high hopes on him for incredible offensive shows at the plate and impeccable defence.
His exclusion from the line-up of the White Sox will reduce the effectiveness of their offence.
Unless they find his replacement, they will miss Pierzynski badly.
“It was really one of those things that just never seemed like it was going to work out,’’ Pierzynski said. “It just seemed like they made some calls, but it never got to the point where it was, ‘Hey, let’s move on something. At the same time, am I disappointed?
Any time you’ve been eight years in a place, you’d love to go back, and I’d like to have finished my career there. But I’m excited and looking forward to a new place and a new challenge. I wish those [in Chicago] nothing but the best.”
One of the reasons why the White Sox did not pay much heed to Pierzynski during this offseason is because they had more important issues to respond to.
For example, they required some pitchers in order to strengthen their rotation.
They considered re-signing Pierzynski as less significant a matter. Unsurprisingly, they ended up losing him to the Rangers.
Pierzynski will be hoping that he continues with his incredible run and form while playing for the Rangers.
