A Ken Rocky runs away with a win at Newcastle
Like any other sport out there, greyhound racing has its share of success stories. A highly favoured racer might bound out of his trap and lose some ground early on, but sometimes, he
eventually makes up for it by shooting ahead of the pack and winning the race.
The Newcastle Greyhound Stadium has been the site of many success stories over the years, and last night’s 480m races featured some more. The races began with an A3 race that featured
a pair of 5-2 joint favourites in A Ken Rocky and Gan On Jenny.
Only one of these two dogs emerged victorious, and that honour went to A Ken Rocky. He led the run up en route to a first-place finish in 30.27. Cash For Gneeve, the 8-1 long shot, placed
second in 30.59, which was 4 lengths behind the winner.
Adamant Maldini (3-1), the son of famed racer Droopys Maldini, claimed third place in 30.67, missing second place by just a single length. Missing the top three by only ¾ lengths was Gan
On Jenny, the other joint favourite. Despite a clear run, she finished in fourth place with a time of 30.73.

Lockwood Bo (7-2) also had a clear run today, but he ended up in fifth place. He was a head behind Gan On Jenny in 30.74. Locking up last place was Dipton Venus (6-1), who was 1 length
out of fifth place in 30.82.
Next up on the card was an A8 race, which featured a surprise winner in 8-1 long shot Brimardon Planet. He led near the line to claim the win in 30.84. Katie Kite Flyer (3-1) finished
1½ lengths out of the top spot to earn second place in 30.96. She moved slowly away from the pack at first, but ran on to a decent finish.
Third place went to Black Clare (7-2), whose finishing time of 30.96 tied that of Katie Kite Flyer. She was a shoulder’s length out of second place.
Bedrock Jack (7-2) was always handy, but he placed fourth in 31.04, which was a single length out of the top three. A clear run was not enough for the 5-2 favourite, who disappointed many
by finishing in fifth place. Her time of 31.10 placed her ¾ lengths behind Bedrock Jack. Sixth place went to Lil Diamond (6-1), who did not shine in this race. A distance of 2¾ lengths separated her from fifth place.
Will A Ken Rocky be able to keep his winning streak alive? Will Brimardon Planet continue to surprise the competition? Find out when Newcastle Greyhound Stadium hold their next evening
of races on Thursday. The action begins with an A6 race at 18:38 on October 7.
