Question:

A-Level French... advice please?

For anyone with knowledge of the UK education system:

I got my A-Level results yesterday. I got ACC, which was just below what I need for university. I contacted the university, who have accepted my anyway.

After looking at the breakdown of my French grade, I found the following unit grades: B,B,B,B,C, E.

The E grade was for one paper, and it was only just an E- one less mark and I'd have failed totally. My teacher feels that if I resit this paper I can get my overall grade raised, but I am moving away to university in six weeks, so I'd have to resit there.

My dad reckons I should challenge the grade for this paper, as I thought it had gone better than that on the day I sat it. However, this is quite expensive and if it's re-marked my mark may not improve.

So, what do you think I should do> Should I accept my C grade, and just go to university? Should I pay the money to have the paper re-marked and hope the examiner made a mistake? Or should I re-sit in January?

Please give honest opinions, and use links to other information if you want.

Thank you in advance!

  1. If the money is too much don't bother. It won't matter what grade you got in French too much if you get your degree, anyway :)
