Andre Villas Boas’s Chelsea take on Martin Jol’s Fulham, in the Barclays Premier League, but which players will come away with the most Fantasy Premier League points?
Fantasy Premier League managers will be loving the shorter intervals between matches during the hectic holiday period and will know that a good run here could take them to the top of their respective league tables.
Yet, which players should managers be looking to keep or bring in to their sides for Gameweek 18 based on this match and also which players ought to be benched as well.
Petr Cech – not a solid choice for keeper
Petr Cech is currently on a poor run of form in recent week managing a meagre eight points in his past three outings.
Fulham’s first choice keeper Mark Schwarzer is also unavailable meaning that it would be wiser for managers to look at other teams for a first choice keeper both for the short and the long term.
John Terry is on fire!
The Chelsea skipper may also be under a bit of fire as he faces allegations of racism, but in the Fantasy Premier League he is currently the highest point earner when it comes to defenders. It must be said however, that he is on the expensive side at 7.5-million,
but any Chelsea defender will do at the moment.
As for Fulham, it will be difficult for them to keep the creativity of Juan Mata and the eagerness of Daniel Sturridge at bay.
Juan Mata, Danny Murphy or Raul Meireles?
Mata has been a revelation since the Spaniard joined from Valencia and will be sure to be involved in everything positive that Chelsea get up to during their match.
Another, slightly more risky, option is Fulham’s midfield pivot, Danny Murphy. The former Liverpool player has been a consistent performer for his side as well as in the Fantasy Premier League.
Raul Meireles has been given freedom under Villas Boas to join in on the attacks and the player has been settling into this position rather well. If he does play then his ability to feed those lovely diagonal long balls to the strikers are sure to earn some
points.
Didier Drogba, one way or the other
Chelsea’s Drogba may not be scoring goals as freely as he used to yet his ability with the dead ball means that he should always be considered when choosing a striker and with Fulham playing their second choice keeper it may just prove to be a shrewd move.
Apart from that the Ivory Coast international also tends to set up opportunities for his teammates and is a constant threat in the air.
