Question:

A Monkey Could Drive That Car?

Clint Bowyer made a statement about Joe Gibbs Racing cars after the Daytona Nationwide race when he said "A Monkey Could Win In That Car."

Does anyone know if this mean he is considering joining JGR in the near future, or does he need more training?

  1. hes right you can stic anyone in a JGR car and they could win

  2. wooley-booley i'm going with your answer

if i just climbed out of that hot-a$$ race car i would probably say stupid shlt to

kinda like kyle does from time to time

  3. It means RCR doesn't have decent equipment and/or technicians

  4. i'm sure that bowyer and gibbs could work out a deal...so many bananas per race...but bowyer is still alittle green...leave him on the tree alittle longer.

  5. the car, the 20 seems to be unstoppable no matter who is behind the wheel, apparently Clint is giving the credit to the car and not the drivers....

  6. It means that jgr is so good, a monkey could win in the car, that's how good the car is, despite the driver.

  7. Another classic example of a reporter sticking a microphone in a drivers face after a grueling race. He was being sarcastic.

  8. It was just a figure of speech. Alot of drivers in the heat of the moment say things they dont mean. It was funny though.

  9. clint bowyer needs training eh? last i checked he was leading the points in nationwide clint has always been a high class guy it was probaly more of a compliment to jgr engineers then a knock on the drivers.

  10. lol well I get it. I think he needs more training, though.

  11. I also saw this on NASCAR Now...I think Clint Bowyer is just a hater.

  12. If HE had the same engine package that the Toyotas have he could dominate like that also, that's what he is saying!

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  13. Clint's just jealous of JGR's dominance in the Sprint and Nationwide Series.

I bet he wants to be one of those monkeys who drives that #20 car...

  14. bowyer is leading the points in the nationwide series, but if the #20 car were driven by the same driver every race, it would be leading the points.   Every driver that has driven that car has won.   I think he was just making a statement that the car has an awesome record, whether it be because of luck, driver talent, or just a darn good car.

  15. he needs more training, but a monkey could drive better than my brother.

  16. he's made that statement twice so far this year. they were just discussing that on "nascar now" and how clint was out of line and just frustrated in saying it. they even showed a bit of press conference where j.d. gibbs was joking that clint needs to remember that those are four highly trained monkeys who have won in that car. of course he said that jokingly, but in a semi-serious way.

moreover, he stated that clint (and others) should give the monkeys and the team more credit than they are receiving. yeah, they might have more horsepower, but they've also built better bodies for their cars, and they put in the time, the money, and the expertise to get the most of what nascar allowed them to have in that engine.

finally, ray evernham said something about what nascar is supposedly going to do - change the "tapered spacers" on the other manufacturers cars in the nationwide series so they can get a few horsepower back.  seems pretty weak to me that nascar first sets the rules, gibbs follows them and gets the most out of what they have, then nascar changes the rules to benefit everybody else.

and even with more training, if gibbs were ever to take on someone like bowyer who seems not that much more bright than a monkey on a bad day, i think i'd have to seriously reconsider wearing my JGR team t-shirt out in public.

  17. nah bowyer just jealous of jgr.........................
