Well, this from Soup : http://www.superbikeplanet.com/2007/Sep/e/n070907f.htm says that Vale has not given up yet.

The lastest " After the flag " on Motogp dot com says that JB and VR had given up at Laguna.

We will have to wait and see. How amazing it would be for Vale to claw it back now.

I dont think it will happen, but I hope to be proved wrong.

Read the report, then tell me: What do you think?

  1. It would be fantastic if Valentino could fight back from this and proive he's the best rider EVER but seen this earlier on crash.net

  2. Vale will never give up! It's not in his nature to do a thing like this. He'll fight until the end even if there is no chance to win. That's one of the things that makes him what he is, one of the greatest riders ever.

Although I don't believe he has a chance to win this title, I think this will help him prepare for the next season. If Stoner doesn't start falling from his bike, no one has a chance to beat him... what a pity, I don't want to see him taking the title. Personally I want someone who deserves it more, even if it has to be Pedrosa and not Vale.

Casey got out of no where and started winning with a bike that used to be Capirossi's. He is riding well but still he's not the one who should get the title.

It would be great Rossi to start showing up on the podium. It will remind people that it's just one bad season and that he is ready for next year's fight!

  3. Vale's a racer, and no matter where he's sitting in the championship he wants to win races. For his own personal pride if nothing else.

I think they must realise that the championship is gone unless Casey has an accident and rules himself out for the rest of the season.

But even if that doesn't happen, and Vale wins all five of the remaining races, Casey would need to finish so far down at every race that I cant see it being possible. Casey's not finished lower than 5th all year!

But then again, it is racing. And anything can happen. So it will be good to see Rossi trying!

He's certainly not given up trying to win races though.

  4. I agree that Rossi will never give up! He has the heart of a true champion and he loves to race and compete. He loves the element of compitetion, (thats where "The Doctor" shines!) He could be dead last in points and hed still try to win the last GP of the season just to go out with a bang!

  5. morning Wiggy,

I don't think that Vale is ever gonna give up trying to win races, but this does sound like he's getting a more positive feeling and confidence in his tyres (those buggers again!)

It has got to the stage where I guess it doesn't help to slag off Michelin anymore, and hopefully things can only improve - this must be one of their (Michelin's) worse seasons P.R. wise so let's hope.

As to the championship, I think it will take a slide down the road from Stonor (and Portugal could be the place for that) to give him even a glimpse at the title, but then it was only Vale's own slide down the road last race, last season that denied him a superb comeback victory.

Pleas god it becomes a tad more exciting in these last few races!
