Yeah, so I'm going to high school this Monday coming up and I'm going to be a Freshman. I'm in all honors classes, even though I don't want to be because I don't know how I got in them. But, anyway, what is the difference between honors and A.P? Which is better?

  1. AP classes are at least 2x as hard as honor classes. It looks better for college application

  2. AP classes are considered to be a higher level than honors classes.  AP classes are intended to prepare students for AP (Advanced Placement) exams that are administered in May by the College Board (the same organization that administers the SAT).  The idea is that if you get a good score on an AP exam, you might get college credit for when you go to college (every college has its own policy on that).  Honors classes are just regular classes that are taught at perhaps a higher level (more material, etc.).  Typically, freshmen don't meet the prerequisites for AP classes at their schools (there's usually some honors classes that you have to take first), but there are definitely exceptions.
