A.P. English Essay Question, need help A.S.A.P.?

Question

The prompt of the essay is " A uniform religious identity is beneficial to a society" so I have to either be in favor of the prompt or against it. I am totally against it because I believe everyone should have the right to choose their own religion. But anyways I need HELP finding a very good introduction for the essay but I just can't think of one, so please HELP, the essay is due on Tuesday September 2, 2008.

Interesting. I dig that you are asking for help, however, the point of giving  you such essays is to help YOU practice for the AP test in May. Thus, you really should be the one coming up with the intro. However, just to get your juices flowiing...

"Black pants are the only pants that women can wear. Phone use is limited to two hours a day before your phone line is cut off. Everyone must go to church on Saturday, and they must attend services at 8:30 am. None of these are negotiable. Choice has become a thing of the past, and following societal orders has become present-day life. Interestingly enough, this is not as far-fetched as it may sound. Many people today believe that a uniform religious identity is beneficial to a society, however, I believe the opposite. (insert thesis)..."

well its good that you know which side youre on...make the first scentence of the intro be a hook scentence to capture the readers attention...then go and focus on your standpoint and the 3 ideas that support your reasoning. end the paragraph with a transition scentence into the topic of the first paragraph.
