Question

"Kids of the future"

far off shore

boats handed to horizons

in the ocean's palm

day by day

come while they may

gather wrinkles

with the sheets.

Dear Captains:

say your prayers

clutch breath

hope the world's not flat

find out where you're at

twinkle stars

tell us stay

or go on anyway

without a choice

to be kids

to be lovers

sending plucked flowers

to empty doors

of death and hearts

never opened

we are the kids of the future

the future of kids

knocking at your door.
