Here's the math to solve it.

set up the proportion:

100 pennies/ 1 dollar    =    1,000,000 pennies/ x dollars

remember** it is pennies/ dollars = pennies/ dollars

cross multiply:

1(1,000,000)= 100(x)

isolate the variable

1(1,000,000)/ 100  = 100 (x) /100

x= 10,000 dollars

dividing by 100 is the same as moving the decimal place two places to the left or, in this case, dropping 2 zeros off the end.
