If the server messes up while serving and it hits the net or it goes out of bounds, does the opponent get the point?

I have always thought that it is something along hte lines of first fault where neither player gets the point, and if there is a second fault, the opponent gets the point.

  1. What if it hits the net, but still ends up on servers side? Then they play a "let," which means that they re-do the point, same person serving.

If the server messes up while serving and it hits the net or it goes out of bounds, does the opponent get the point? Yes. Unlike tennis, in table tennis, you only get one serve and if it goes out, it's the opponent's point.
