Question:

A Question About Deadbolts?

by  |  earlier

Whenever my mom gets mad she storms out of the house and slams the door. Several times when she's done this the deadbolt has locked itself. She always accuses me of locking her out but I've never done it. I know she's never going to believe differently(because she doesn't want to) but could someone explain how this happens just to satisfy my own curiosity? Thank you.

  1. Almost certainly the vibration. Try slamming the door from the inside and watch what the deadbolt does and then demonstrate to your mother whilst taking bets as to whether or not you will get an apology

  2. It's old and rusted. I suggest video taping her slamming the door and proving her wrong !i

  3. the inertia of the slam flings the bolt out of the door into the locked position
