Question:

A Question About Nearsightedness?

OK, so, I now know that what causes nearsightedness is because of something about the shape of your eyeballs, being too long and stuff, whatever, and it's not because of sitting too close to your TV, or reading in dim light, these things just strain your eyes. But, what causes your eyeball's shape to become that shape that gives you nearsightedness? Is that from straining your eyes?

  1. It's inheirited through your genes. My parents, all my siblings and I are all nearsighted.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Its mostly genetics. I don't think there is any actual "Cause". You are either nearsighted or you are not. It can develop at different ages, but mostly your eyes start getting bad from birth.
