Question:

A Question About Silver-Tip Tetra's?

Are they aggressive fish? I have 3 silver-tip tetra's, 3 glow-light tetras, and recently just bought 5 harlequins. The silver-tips however seem to chase the other species, and each other, in what appears to be an aggressive way. Could someone tell me if this harmless fish behaviour or if they indeed are being aggressive. The other fish don't seem to be stressed though.

  1. I keep silver tips and there not aggressive fish at all. But fin nipping and going after other fish is something they will do.

One reason they may seem to be more aggressive is if you have a small tank and lots fish.

  2. as they get bigger they will eat your other fish

  3. silver-tip tetra do chase the other fish

  4. Dont listen to the person who said about them getting bigger and eating other fish.. Silvertips only get to a couple of inches, no fish will fit in their mouths.

They do chase other fish, and nip a little bit. I had 6 of them, but now I'm down to one because hes the only one that survived cycling. If you keep them in a small school, they wont bother the other fish as much..
