  1. As stated, take them out every night. I still fall asleep with my contacts in, and I have ruined my chance to be a candidate for laser eye surgery, because my eyes were starved of oxygen, leading them to create blood vessels in my eye ball! If it gets any worse, I could go blind.

Anyways.. Keep your glasses on hand, and always keep one of the cheap plastic contact lens holders around with solution inside so that if your lens ever falls out, you don't have to scramble to rinse it with water and put a dirty lens back in.

Buy some good clear eyes or visine drops to help with irritation and redness, and just to moisten your eyes. They really help and feel good, but a kinda expensive.

Have fun, and take good care of your glasses in case you get a scratch, bacteria, pink eye or something else that leads you to take out your lenses.

  2. take them out every night.  Do not leave them in.  Even those that say you can sleep in them, shouldnt be slept in.  Contacts create a barrier on your eye, and if you sleep in them you can cause damage because your eye cant "breathe".  I caused so much damage to my eyes because I didnt take them out at night when I was younger.  Now I suffer from chronic dry eye and I have to buy more expensive one day lenses.

It will be very strange putting them in for the first time too.  The tip is to NOT look at your finger as it is going in.  Look into the mirror instead--the focus being on the mirror will deter you from jumping away from the lense.

Each morning after your put your lenses in--clean the case with water and set it out to air dry, do not recycle the solution.

Its also very nice to keep your glasses on hand.  I wear mine at nights, when I run out of lenses, and when my dry eyes are too much.

Enjoy your contacts---they are a great invention....
