I am taking an aviation course for an elective and stuck on my take home test. How would I (in a flight plan) figure out and order the proper frequencies to use while landing at an airport. Any advice would be great! thanks.

  1. ATIS

    Approach control

    Control tower

    Ground control

    Ramp control

  2. Don't you think this is cheating?

  3. you would not figure that out in a flight plan other than to make sure you have the charts.

  4. On a Airport diagram

    Bottom left corner....http://flightaware.com/resources/airport...

  5. Just try to VISUALIZE what it is you want to do... Let's say you have been talking to Center... while you are still well out from the destination airport, you tune up their ATIS transmission (frequency will be in your Jepp chart or AOPA airport directory) and copy the information... this will tell you what approach sector to contact, if there is more than one, and it gives the frequency for approach.

When you contact approach you advise them you have the ATIS information and WHERE you are physically... this lets them locate you on their scopes then you just follow their directions as they hand you off to whatever station is controlling your sector and your landing... They will ALWAYS tell you WHO to call and what frequency to use.

I hope this helps... mostly... it's just a matter of visualizing where you are and what you want to do and communicating that.

  6. How would you know who to contact at yer point of destination? Hay boy have you ever heard of a flight plan? You go ahead and look at a map and contact the peeps your are traveling too as well as contact your local base so that if you are missed it will be on both ends. if one sources drops the ball another will take up the slack. Filing a flightplan notifies the locals as well as the folks up ahead so's they can look fer ye ifn ye don't show up  compadre! Kapeesh?Note: I try to splain these thangs in common terms. not canadian terms mind ye. Just kidding and buzzin! Have a nice flight!
