A Scott Sportster or a Specialized Globe?

I know nothing. These bikes are at seperate stores and I just want to know which is better.

Well, the Globe retails for $440 versus the  Sportster for $1099.  That's a big difference.

The Sportster has disc brakes, which is maybe a major reason why the price on that one is higher.  

It really depends on what you are doing with the bike.  I mean, if you live  in a rainforest, get the Scott.   But if you can count on reasonable weather, the Globe may be adequate.

I'm afraid I'm not an expert on dedicated commuters.  Maybe just compare the specs and decide for yourself.  I'm having  a bit of a tough time realizing why the Scott needs to be that much more  expensive, barring dealing with extreme weather elements.
