A Sheriff is coming to check my house. Is it illegal to record every step he/she makes in/out my house? VA US?

"for my safety" I would like to record everything said and done in my house while he is here. Is it legal?

  1. It's legal to audio & video tape everything & I suggest you do both.


  2. I am not sure about Virginia, but you may want to make it known that you are recording everything as it is illegal in some states to record someone without their consent.

  3. hey grab a camcorder and record it all. its not illegal, its for your protection, and Youtube the part of you getting arrested after your release so we could all have a good laugh!!!!

  5. Yea...you can record it. But my gut tells me there's not anything to be found now since you know he's coming.

  6. you may want to tell the Sheriff what you plan to do. the Sheriff may change his or her mind about coming over.

  7. Its not illegal as long as it does not interfere with the Sheriff's duties,

    Recording will be illegal if you are doing so to prevent the Sheriff from doing his job or harrass/intimidate him.
