A Sleep deprived Title win, Federer take it as “No Problem” – Tennis Special
Roger “Maestro” Federer, returned to his winning form this Sunday as he played Frenchman, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final match of BNP Paribas Masters 2011, beating the local lad in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(3), his sixth win against
the Frenchman.
After the Swiss Maestro lost to Rafael Nadal earlier this year in the final of French Open, Federer returned to Paris winning his third title of the year. The former world No.1 has been struggling though out the season, however,
managed to bag the season end titles as he defended his title at Basel and managed to win first BNP Paribas Masters.
Although the veteran Swiss has reached many finals he could not end much of them winning. However, this Sunday, 13th November, Federer juggled his way through his second consecutive title ending his run with the BNP
Paribas Masters title.
Swiss former world No.1 shared that he could not get the best sleep coming to his first BNP Paribas Masters final. Not because he was anxious about winning the title rather he was given a 4am wake-up call by his daughter.
“It happened many times that she wakes me up in the night this year, but I was not 25 times in the final,” he said. “I was hoping that during the night it would go well, but suddenly I was running with Mirka in the room to see
if everything was okay. And she said, ‘Let's take her in our bed.’ I said, ‘Okay, let's do that.’ I didn't even question this. I just said okay. I can't have a fight at 4:00 in the morning with her.”
However, all was absolved as soon as Federer overpowered the Frenchman to lift up his second consecutive title. “In the end, it was all right. I am happy,” he said with a giggle. “It happened several times this week, so maybe it's
a good sign.”
Adding to the laughter was the heavy trophy. The Maestro found the muscles to lift up the weighty title and almost cramped his biceps, but that was a joke. Another heavy title he lifted was at Gastaad, as heavy as a rock said the
former world No.1.
Nevertheless, the champ has got one more final run next, the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals and if the Swiss goes past that, that would become his fourth win of the season and would might as well give him back his position as the
world No.3.
