Question:

A Spanish Resurgence?

last month,we were all introduced to the wonders of carla suarez navarro at roland garros, and this week at wimbledon we saw yet another incredibly talented rising player from spain in maria jose martinez sanchez(say that three times in row! lol)playing a terrific second set against venus. a left hander, she served and volleyed incredibly well and hit some really fab aggressive shots. she certainly seems to have a game well suited for grass where carla is destined to thrive on the clay.

do any of you think that these two will be in there in the coming months and years?

  1. i think carla suerez navarro is extremely talented and will be climbing the rankings.

  2. well, caucasions dominated it for two hunred years and will again, so what.

  3. Suarez and Martinez show promise, to be sure; if they keep up the momentum who knows?  Perhaps one of them in the top 25 in a year's time.  But this may not be a "Spanish resurgence" just yet...
