Question:

A Title For My Story?

Alright, I'm writing a book about a suicidal teenage boy who hasn't kill himself yet, just because he hasn't written the perfect death note (a note to leave behind) yet. Also, the story complicates when a girl falls for him, unaware of his plans for self murder.

I need a title. I wanted "Death Note" but there's an anime already called that. And "Death Letter" doesn't quite have that ring to it. Any ideas? I suppose it could have something to do with the love aspect of it but the main theme is suicide.

Thanks in advance.

you should use death note, if you like it. it doesnt matter if its been used. if it works, who's to complain?

  9. Well I couldn't really think of much besides "The Note" or "Scribble" or "Flawless" (because every letter he writes isn't the right one.) The title and notes could indicate that the reason that none of his letters are perfect is because he really doesn't want to die in the first place; he wants life to be better. It's scribble; it is writing that has no real meaning because it's never done. He wants someone to rescue him and care for him. This would give your character depth. He would have a real reason for staying alive besides not having a perfect note. The flawed notes would be his excuse; food for thought.

Edit: Flawless could also be used to describe how perfect she is and her "flawless" timing for entrance into his life. You could also use thesaurus.com to get other words with the same meaning.

  10. Suicidal Note

    The Note Of Death

    My Suicide

That's all I Can Give Hope It Helps

  11. I always believed that a story's title should refer to the theme without giving away the plot.

Example: The da Vinci Code.  Brown didn't name it The Priory of Sion's Efforts To Protect A Secret.

"Death Note" sounds suicidal right off the bat and could turn away potential readers who are adverse to that subject and they may be missing out on a good read.

Delve a bit more into your plot and see if there is an underlying theme that you can use.
