A Tougher Tour de Pologne 2012 to challenge the cyclists, Czeslaw Lang
Race organiser of the 2012 edition o f the Tour De Pologne Czeslaw Lang has revealed a number of key features in this year’s race.
It has been hinted that the contest will feature more climbs in the 2012 version to make it the toughest race throughout its history.
Lang noted, "We can say that once again this year we've done what we could to design a technical and spectacular route with a good balance between mountain stages for attackers and men going for the general classification, and stages dedicated to the sprinters".
He continued, "We also plan to have a few more difficult stages at the start of the race, rather than deciding things on the final few days".
The Polish race started in 1928 and is held every year.  The tour consists of a total number of seven to eight stages and the cyclists cover a gruelling distance of almost 1,200 kilometres across the country.
The race became the part of UCI Pro Tour in 2005 and it marked the UCI World Ranking calendar in 2009.
Feliks Więcek succeeded during the first edition of the race while Dariusz Baranowski and Marian Więckowski hold the honour of winning the race for a maximum number of three occasions.
Slovakian player Peter Sagan dominated the Tour De Pologne in 2011. He covered the total distance of 1113.3 kilometres in the fastest time to secure the first victory at the Polish event.
Lang explained that the race will cover the most mountainous part of the country, the southern central region of Poland.
He noted that the management has always tried its best to bring the race in as many cities as possible and receives a large number of requests for the same purpose.
"Poland has a vast territory; this is why we try to rotate, edition after edition, to try to touch as many different areas of the country as we can," Czeslaw explained.
Tour De Pologne will kick off on July 10th 2012 in Karpacz and cyclists will ride through exhausting 1100 kilometres before the final stage on July 16th.
The race will run parallel to the Tour de France and will be a superb opportunity for the cyclists who missed out on the French race this year.
