I've been told to read Wuthering Heights if I want to read a book like Twilight, I know it's referred to in the book. How is this book like Twilight if it was written such a long time ago, I''m pretty sure there's no vampires in it. So my question is, should a Twilight fan looking for books similar to it read this book?

  2. huh? i've read it and i didnt read wuthering heightss.

  3. Yes, because the plotline of Twilight is very similar to (in fact, ripped off from) Wuthering Heights (minus the vampire).  Read it!  Read it!  It's good writing, and the characters have personality AND there's no purple prose!

  4. books often make references to other books. just because they mention it doesen't mean that it has anything to do with a book like twilight. it could have fit into the plot. just because a book is mentioned dosen't mean its the same.

  5. Just because there are no vampires in a book doesn't mean there are no similar themes and messages in the book.

The plot of Twlight is a love triangle between Edward, Jacob and Bella.  The love triangle in Wuthering Heights is between Heathcliff, Catherine and Edgar.

Reading a great piece of literature wouldn't be a bad thing either.

  6. Wuthering Heights was the Twilight of its day. I won't spoil it for you, but there are supernatural elements, romance, and a leading man who's a little strange...

It's much more...literary, than Twilight though, so avoid it if every other Victorian novel you've read has made you cringe.

  7. probably, but i don't.

  8. of course you should

  9. Well, I wasn't particularly fond of Wuthering Heights, and I'm a big fan of Twilight. If you have nothing else to read, read it I guess, but it's more of a depressing classic. There are similar plot ties, but the writing is very different.

These are some better- in my opinion-, also related books you might want to try.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead (awesome books)

    Guardians of Eternity series

    The Host- by Stephenie Meyer

    House of Night- Kristin Cast

  10. Wuthering Heights is pretty much a melodrama. 98% of Twilight readers are bubbly teen girls, so I don't think you would wanna read it.

    Go Team JACOB!

  11. yes

  12. Yes. Meyer didn't put it for a laugh- she was trying to recommend you a good book (she has most likely read it).

There's no vampys, I'm afraid- it's the story of a girl called Cathy who is in love with wild Heathcliff, who the family took in from the moors (he is a person). They fall insanely in love with each other and neither meets a good end but it's a really good book.

This book isn't like Twilight- Twilight is like this book.

  13. No, read what ya want, but I did read wuthering heights before i read twilight. And the book mentions Wuthering Heights, the character is leisurely reading it. Story lines are different, but Wuthering Heights is a good book, all about lies and betrayal and forbidden love. Pretty juicy but the beginning is boring as h**l.
