Your cheapest bet is to get an adjustable microphone stand.  If you're handy with tools, you can easily just attach a piece of wood to the top and cover it with a really nice cloth.  It is an inexpensive quality stand that many professionals use.

A professional one most use if they're not into making one themselves is the Maher stand.  It runs about $140.  Here's the link:

It's expensive because it's also collapsable, will last forever, and looks really nice.

I just asked online in the ventriloquist group who else makes stands.  I will try to come back and give more information when I get it.
