The ad says I have win32/adware.virtumonde and win32/privacyremover.m64 on my computer. I searched my entire computer and none of this is true , yet I still can't get rid of this or the accompanying purchase product ads. Someone please tell what to do. I've already deleted any recent downloads such as world clock, limewire, etc... , but it still remains.

  1. You need to install an anti-virus and anti-spyware software. Once software is installed, scan the system and it will recommend you to delete entries

    Best wishes

  2. http://www.mcafeeasap.com/intl/en/Defaul...

  3. http://removal-tool.blogspot.com/2008/08...

    http://hands-oncorp.com/2008/08/21/warni...

    check these manual removal instructions

  4. that kind of virus is trojan, a common virus to all internet users who downloads something

    i just did this yesterday

    this is the easiest way

go to this website - http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

    download malware bytes' anti malware

    then scan your computer

it should have found the virus and infected files

it will ask you to restart so that you can delete the virus

open malware, then delete the virus. DONE!

  5. You need to run you anti-malware product (antivirus, antispyware).  You're not going to get rid of this by looking for a file.

If you don't have anything, then try downloading and installing one of the free products like avast or avg.  Update to get the latest defiinitions and run a scan.

If this doesn't work, then you may need a pay-for product.

And if you can't get a security product to install, then you may need a professional.  Or you could reinstall you system.

  6. win32/adware.virtumonde

    win32/privacyremover.m64

    Both are fakes.

  7. no i used adaware on the same problem.  It would catch it and virtumonde would still be on my computer after restart.   Use malwarebytes get it at Malwarebytes.org  also make sure u update the software before using it.

  8. You are infected. Do this to remove it.

Switch off System Restore, you can restart it when you are clean if you wish. You must do this or the infection will reappear.

    Install and run:-

    SUPERantispyware http://superantispyware.com

Update and run a full scan once a week.

    Spybot Search and Destroy http://safer-networking.org

Update, Immunize and scan once a week.

    ccleaner http://ccleaner.com

Run the Cleaner scan and remove all it finds

Run the Registry scan and fix all issues but repeat this until nothing is detected.

    Run this daily.

You will be asked to reboot a few time during these cleans, do this.

I'd recommend a full scan after with your anti-virus software. A good one is Avast Home Edition for free http://avast.com

I'd also recommend you use a firewall such as Comodo Firewall  http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/

Some people just prefer the Windows one but this is better.

Email me if you need any help.

  9. You can use Ad-Aware http://lavasoftusa.com and the info is http://www.lavasoft.com/support/security...
