  1. If the bird is fully feathered, it is most likely a fledgling and has left the nest on it's own and it's parents are caring for it. It is normal for birds to leave the nest before they can fly. You need to replace it where you found it..preferably in a scrub or tree so it is relatively safe from predators, and the parents should come back to feed it. If it is unfeathered...then look for a nest and if you can find it...replace it into the nest. Do not worry about your scent being on the chick..birds have a very poorly developed sense of smell and will NOT reject a baby that has been touched. If you cannot find a nest, get the bird to a local wildlife rehab for it's best chance of survival. Also, keep in mind, it is illegal for you to try and raise this bird on your own. Look for a rehab here:

  2. some shelters or rescues will take them for you and care for them. Most baby birds that are found by people die :( but all the best of luck to you

  3. leave it, if it dies then that's just natures way. human intervention isn't always the best idea ya know.

  4. Well..it's too late for the nest. You have to take care of it yourself.

  5. If it FELL out, then the nest is directly above where you found the baby bird.  If you stand exactly where you found the bird, look up ... you should see the nest.  If not, perhaps it is a species of bird that nests on the ground.

If you can see a nest, replace the baby in the nest.  If you don't see one, just leave the bird where you found it (where the mom bird can find it!)

However ... it's probably a fledgling.  That means it's ready to begin learning to fly.  If that's the case, leave it alone.  It doesn't need your help.

  6. since you cant find the nest you must take care of it yourself in your home or you can take it to the vet to see what kind of bird it is and what kind of food it eat.
