About 4 days ago, my dad found a baby crow fall in our backyard from its tree!! We left it alone for about 2 days thinking that its mother will take care of it. but then our neighbors (I think) Shot the mother down with a bird gun. the mother's wings are hurt and the baby is unprotected. We have been feeding the baby bits of bagle with chopsticks but we dont want to keep it. so we put it in a box with grass in it for now but we don't know what to do with it! I tried to find a animal rescue for it but i can't seem to find it. Could you tell us how to save the baby and/ or tell us an animal rescue in Federal Way Washington??

  1. Your neighbor is cruel.

Thanks for caring about this helpless creature.

Call a wildlife rehabber who will take care of the bird.  Do not take it to the Humane Society or to a vet - please.

You can Google "wildlife rehabbers" and find one in your state.  Call any numbers you can to get the bird help.  They will also take the mother and either be  able to help her or at least get her out of pain.  Sad, sad that people do not think of the pain an animal goes through.  Thank you again for caring.  Oh - do not try to give it water or milk, no matter what.

I would open it's beak and put bits of canned corn way down the beak.  4 days without food may be too much for it to live.

  2. Feed the baby crow some dog food soaked in water. They make fantastic pets. They can be taught to talk.

  3. It is possible that the other parents is still caring for this baby.  Watch from afar to see if you see the other parent feeding it.  If you are too close, you could be keeping the parent from coming as you would be considered a predator.  You should report your neighbor to the US Fish and Wildlife Service as killing crows or ANY wild native bird is illegal and punishable by fine or jail time.  If no one is tending to this baby it needs to go to a local wildlife rehab..and so does the mother if she is still around.  Look here for one near you:
