  1. srry no stories....

  2. I never heard of backroads.com but I found 'ibiketuscany.com'.  Marco is the tour-guide.  There are a variety of rides he takes you on.  Go for the 'Wine Ride'.  The full-day tour is a combo of bike-riding with a couple of car-hops in between & you'll stop at 3 different wineries for tastings.  There's one particular one (our 2nd hop-stop that day) where a guy named Shawn (Sean?) runs the place & it he was incredibly nice in giving us a short tour of the building which was an old residence but now a winery/B&B.  Through the bike ride you'll hit a couple of little villages which are so remotely peaceful & out-of-the-way that you know there's no way you're in the U.S.  It was ~90euro per person & I'm very glad I did it this past July with my wife.  The serenity of the countryside is so nice you'll want to move there like Shawn did.  Look for not so much an event-filled day as a passively relaxing day - just as if you were going through a walk in the park to relax, except you're pedaling instead of walking - with no interest in hurrying home.  Those bike seats can get a little hard though after a while.  You might want to bring something to pad your pants...

    Hope that helped.

  3. Can tell you anything about Backroads trips per se, but I'd recommend Butterfield&Robinson. They are the premier active travel company out there and their trips are amazing!! I'll be honest and tell you that I used to work for them (but haven't for many years) -- but independently I'd still say they are the best, especially in Tuscany where I live.

If you'd like more information please feel free to email me.
